Week 5 - Term 4

So far this term we have had our school gala, which was so much fun. Our two rock bands performed as well as a few extra school group performances. I got to perform Radioactive with two of my friends from class. We have social dance every Tuesday which is so much fun!!! The Grandparents concert we had was also very cool, many of our very talented students got to perform in front of an audience full of our lovely grandparents. Tomorrow we have the 1.5km run... yay... Not a fan. But I'll be running with my friends so I'll survive.

Term 3 Week 3

This past week, back on Friday evening, two of our school rock bands performed at Bandslam. It was incredible. I am in the band 'Toxic Rose' and we played really well for our first real out of school rock performance.
The event went on for a few hours and my band even scored 3rd place in the creative division. Other than that, not much happened this week unfortunately. In maths we are working on Algebra which is really fun, and in Music tech we have composed a few melodies and my friend and I wrote a funny blues song.

We called it...

Fridge Blues

I got to the fridge
Got nothin to eat
Blues
Blues
Got a celery stick
And some sour milk
Fridge Blues
Blues
I drove to the shops
But the shops were closed
Fridge Blues

I die of starvation
And go up to heaven
Blues

I go  through the gates
and see the good god
Fridge Blues
Blues
I open the fridge
But there is no food

Term 3 Week 1

Hey guys,
So this term we have cross country...
YAY
Said no one ever.
We have been doing cross country all week. It's not as bad as I expected. Also I made it into the Jump Jam Competition Team!! YAY!!! This term we also have to write speeches, last year I won so hopefully I make it into the finals again. Although I have like six speeches going at the moment as I don't really know exactly what I would like to write about. Also, in the holidays, I HAD MY BIRTHDAY!!! OFFICIAL TEENAGER NOW!!!
Excuse that. I got a PS3!! Not much to write about this week since I've only been here three days. Sorry, I will write more next time!
BYE!!!

Term 2 Week 11

Week 11

Last week I got to go to the Belmont Sports Exchange, which was really fun. My host was really funny and really nice. She took us across the ferry and up the sky tower!!! We also go to go to Jump, and indoor trampolining arena. Unfortunately, our school lost the competition, but we had fun! Straight after that on Friday we had the WIMS Music Day!! Where musically gifted students were chosen to participate in workshops involving music before the concert. After all the workshops, we practiced for about half an hour before beginning the concert in front of our school. Yesterday we had another short workshop with a music teacher from America called Mrs Ringle. I really liked her!! She showed us some really cool warm-ups. At 7pm last night, we had a long concert with many other bands from around the district and we performed separate pieces as well as one big spectacular with all of us playing together in the end!!
Overall, busy week!!!

Term 2 Week 7

Hi again!!! This week we had a shortened week because of the Queens Birthday three day weekend! On Saturday, my rock band performed at a cafe and it was our first ever performance and it was really exciting. I didn't really feel nervous like some of the other people but it definitely was a good experience. Next week we have our week long production practice where we stay in school but out of class and practice for our upcoming shows. Soon enough our production t shirts will arrive!!! No update next week, sorry, but I will write about production as much as I can, when I can. Also we are making sushi on Friday at Food Tech!!!! YAY!!!!

Term 2 Week 6

This week has been pretty average. Today is mufti day. Not really exciting. I'm going to perform at a cafe with our rock band -Toxic Rose- on Saturday which is pretty exciting. We have been practicing our volleyball skills with a girl from Project Energize which has been quite fun. In maths we have started area, perimeter and volume and I am in the Extension Group, Yay! Production practice has been very productive as it should be considering our performances are coming up!!! Other than that, nothing much has happened.

Term 2 Week 5

Hi there!
This week there wasn't much happening. We had production practice yesterday and my group practiced our dancing and singing. We had two maths tests for fractions, decimals and percentages, and one for measurement. I read 'The Adventure of the Speckled Band' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which is a pretty interesting story to be honest, a little bit too much description maybe but other than that it was good. Ugh, we had our HPV vaccinations today and honestly, it was painful, but mostly just irritating as it leaves your arm with a dull ache for the rest of the day :(
Also we had rock band practice and my band, Toxic Rose, sound pretty good so far, but definitely way more room for improvement.
Until next time,
BYE :D

Term 2 Week 4

Hi there! I'm back! So how have you been? Good? Great.
I've had a pretty good week so far. I found out I get to go to the Belmont Sports exchange which is exciting!!! Also we had our Production Overnight Stay last weekend. We practiced all day and were fed really good food
:) Trust me to say that :D
But really, although we had a lot of really tough rehearsals, and we were super tired by the end, we had heaps of fun with our friends!!! Our bedtime movie was Big Hero Six which was a really cute movie. Unfortunately I only managed to fall asleep at 11pm because I was still so hyped after the day's events, and the boys woke us all up at 6am by running around the ALC loudly! So I was still tired the next day. It was still fun though!!!

Term 2 Week 3

Last week, our school hosted a band camp, where students from two other schools who participate in groups such as band, choir and drum groups all came together with other students to learn a few pieces and perform them in front of an audience.

This camp was held over two days, Wed 29 - Thu 30 of March. On Wednesday, our excited music students awaited the arrival of the other two schools while setting up all the equipment for the event. All the students worked hard at their pieces from 10am-7:30pm on Wednesday and from 9am-4pm on Thursday. After the dress rehearsal on Thursday, we all had dinner in the hall (lasagne! YUM!) before the big concert. The concert began at 7pm and it was spectacular. Everybody performed exceptionally well.

I think our camp was a huge success and all the schools managed to mingle with one another, play together, and learn together.

Weekly Reflection

Week 7

This week I would like to write about the recent events at my school. On Monday afternoon, the Production Call Backs were due. Before that, we had our first auditions, and about 30 students from all that auditioned, were chosen to be main characters, and they would audition again in the call backs with the song "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" which would be sung in a duet with a boy (or girl considering we had a lot more girls than boys). We had a few days to practice our parts. So back to Monday, everybody who was chosen sang their duet, and everybody was nervous and shaking. There was so much tension in the room!!! Also, there was a lot of talent, which only worsened the nerves. After everybody sang, we got into groups of fours, fives and one group of three and we read from two scripts, acting as some characters, and today we found out our parts! Luckily, I managed to get the part I wanted!!! Princess!!!

Portrait Poem. -I AM

I am a musical nerd who enjoys tests.
I wonder how the world will end.
I hear music wherever I go.
I see the birds fly over the trees.
I want to experience the point of life before life itself disappears.
I am a musical nerd who enjoys tests.

I pretend that I can control the world with my thoughts.
I feel like I’m a white rose in a garden of red tulips.
I touch the sea just to see it spread out and surround my fingertips.
I worry that I will never be good enough.
I cry for all the broken souls in the world.
I am a musical nerd who enjoys tests.
I understand that beauty comes from within.
I say that appearance doesn’t matter as much as your soul does.
I dream of changing the world for the better.
I try to be above the average.
I hope that I can be the person who saves the world from anger and negativity.
I am a musical nerd who enjoys tests.

My Opinions on Animal Cruelty

If you hit a baby, or young child and hurt them badly, you can get arrested and put up for child abuse. So why is it when you purposely harm an animal, is it looked over? Technically, according to Darwin's theory, if we evolved from animals, then we are hurting our own kind. Dogs can get taken away in to animal control facilities for 'harming' a human, which is like their prison, and they will rot there until someone takes them, or they get put down. Although, maybe, just maybe, the human should have been the one put under arrest. A dog won't just attack you (unless it has rabies or something), but most of the time, the humans will provoke the dog to get aggressive by teasing them, hurting them, hurting someone the dog protects, and then, it really is the humans fault. I think that animal abuse, any type, should be treated the same as with babies and children. Animals were on this planet first, we are strutting on their land. The least we can do is stop hurting them.

My Weekly Learning Reflection

Week 5

So far, we haven't really done much learning this week. Our week has mostly consisted of tests and getting ready for camp (which is in two weeks time!!!). I have been doing maths where we had to work on understanding integers and adding and subtracting integers and positive numbers. Other than that it has just been tests and things like assemblies, P.E, Jump Jam ect.

Also this week our class had our production auditions where you read a script as though you were on stage and you sang to the judges.

First Time As A Year 8. HAPPY 2015!!!!!

Hey Guys!!! Welcome to 2015!!!
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

So this year I will be a Year 8 and I have big aspirations for this year.
I am continuing with Band and Jazz band and have auditioned for Choir.
I will be auditioning Rock Band on Thursday and I have applied for House Captain and Class Councillor. I am planning on joining Jump Jam and would like to join Extension Science. I know, what a nerd. :) Yeah, I know I am. Oh and I play piano. Grade 5 exams this year.

SORRY! I missed some information from Dec last year. I auditioned for Talent Quest last year and got in, and ended up with 2nd place equal overall. My remix of Mary Had A Little Lamb was well liked. I was presented as playing Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano on stage, and everyone was saying, "No way, she won't be playing Mary Had A Little Lamb at a Talent Show,"

Boy where they flabbergasted when I began.

I started with Mary Had A Little Lamb then went on to
Oh When The Saints Go Marching In
Say Something
All Of Me
Skyscraper
Moonlight Sonata
Zur Sonnenuntergangstunde
Payphone
